FMGC
FMCG & Luxury Goods sector
The retail trade has gone through major changes, and it is constantly being faced with new challenges arising from the stronger level of competition between rival companies. This means that solutions have to be implemented with an ever more specific purpose.
Fast analyses, good decisions and strong implementation are all necessary at the Point of Sale (POS). This in turn means that staff, specialists and management have to recognise changes on a continuous basis, and approach new requirements appropriately and competently.
On the opposite side of the scales, the generational changeover and new purchasing mechanisms have given rise to major changes in buying policies. In purchasing, traditional has given way to modern, and there has been a change to dynamic sourcing on all fronts.
However changes generate opportunities!
World-wide, the search and selection process for good staff increasingly focuses on the need for precisely fine-tuned specialist expertise combined with certain personality traits.
In international organisations representing FMCG businesses, we notice a growing number of local sales organisations that have been updated by high-quality sales personnel, armed with modern tools to meet the ever-increasing aspirations of customers at all levels.
However, teams in the marketing sector are being pooled together or even disbanded, and organisations are combined with each other into overall regions or country clusters. The local marketing specialists are lost to these markets, and all hopes for improved success are invested in a greater sales presence.
Where does the optimum solution lie?
We may well never discover a single answer to this question. These days, both staff and customers have to show an above-average level of flexibility and self-motivation, along with dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit. We have to be able to glean pleasure from constant change, adapt like a chameleon to changing situations and react fast to opportunities and requirements. This makes it difficult to find and evaluate suitable personnel in the employment and candidate markets. It’s not easy, but it’s certainly challenging!
